Comparison with carbon steel

1, the density of

The density of carbon steel is slightly higher than ferrite and martensite stainless steel and slightly lower than austenite stainless steel.

2. Resistivity

The resistivity increases in order of carbon steel, ferritin, markov and austenitic stainless steels.

3. The order of the linear expansion coefficient is similar. The austenite stainless steel is the highest while carbon steel is the smallest.

Carbon steel, ferritic stainless steel and martensite stainless steel are magnetic, austenite stainless steel is non-magnetic, but it will be magnetic when it is hardened to form martensite phase transition. Heat treatment can be used to eliminate this martensite structure and restore its non-magnetic property.

Compared with carbon steel, austenitic stainless steel has the following characteristics:

1) high resistivity, about 5 times that of carbon steel.

2) the large linear expansion coefficient is 40% larger than carbon steel, and the value of the linear expansion coefficient increases accordingly with the increase of temperature.

3) low thermal conductivity, about 1/3 of carbon steel.
